Mountain Prayer

I do not doubt, but only falter
Climbing towards your mountain alter,
Where mistakes all nearer bring
Me to your stage of reckoning.
There I intend my hands to join
And say a prayer, then place a coin
Upon some roses in a ring,
Where solemn angel choirs sing.
Then going down, I will extend
A blessing to my dearest friend
And all the towns and districts round
Your praises sing, your glories found.
